Protein Products and Snacks

The following items meet the LivFit criteria of:
3g or less Saturated Fat per 100g
More than 5g/100g of Protein
Less than 10g sugar per 100g



Chickpeas are a great source of protein and soluble fibre. Just Hummus tastes great, is low in preservatives and a nice spread on wholegrain bread or crackers. Ok after 3pm as from a fibrous carbohydrate source – i.e. non starchy.

SEALORD TUNA                                 

Tuna is a really tasty, healthy high protein snack. Try it on crackers, wholgrain bread or mixed with brown rice or wholegrain or rice based pastas for nice salad options. Go for the spring water option. Check the sodium levels of some of the new flavour combinations before trying (keep sodium under 450mg).

UNICURD SILKEN TOFU                                            

Silken tofu is a healthy protein source with high calcium. Great in smoothies or soup. Ok after 3pm.

Almonds are a great high protein snack. Ten Almonds is a good snack size to fit within the LivFit criteria and still allow you to meet your saturated fat tick. This serve size gives approx 5g protein. Go for Natural, Unsalted (not roasted). Good options for Brands: Alison Holst bulk bins at the supermarket or Mother Earth range.

WATTIES BAKED BEANS - LITE                               


Good old baked beans! A good snack option or side dish when living fit. Baked beans are high in dietary fibre, high in protein and a source of iron. Wattie’s Baked Beans are also 99% fat-free. They also have a Low GI (50) which means that they provide sustained energy that will keep you going for longer, with no added colours or preservatives.

HORLEYS CARB LESS BARS                       

Definitely a snack for before 3pm. Comes in a few yummy flavours. A nice non-naughty treat. Great level of protein per bar. Gluten Free. Gets an orange traffic light because it just sneaks over the saturated fat threshold of 3.0/100g.These bars are a perfect snack to have a “half” one of. A half bar will still give you high protein (over 18.4g) without being too high in sugar. In an ideal world there wouldn’t be numbers on the ingredients list and artificial sweetener. While outside the Livfit criteria because the sugar content is high and the protein is less than 5g/100g.this is still a healthy snack bar as the sugar is from natural fruit and contains less than 1g of fat per 100g. Gluten Free. Best before 3pm.

Quaker Nutbar Mixed Nut                               

This bar falls just outside the Livfit criteria due to high Saturated fat and sugar content per 100g. Recommended use as an occasional snack.


100% Natural Annies Apricot with apple

This bar falls outside the Livfit criteria. However, it’s 100% natural bar – healthy alternative for snacks. The sugar content is high because of the natural fruit. Have no more than 1 a day. Best before 3pm and you will lose your sugar tick.
